Dave Askins from Michigan has created a system to produce energy through pedals. In fact he has joined a bicycle to a bathtub, made of old pieces that can be found everywhere; he uses an Amish sink to hand wash clothes and for rinsing cycles, but above all he uses the bicycle to make clothes turn till they dry like in a spin-dryer.

How long does it take in total? 15 minutes. §But many are the advantages: clean clothes, clean energy and physical exercise.

We know that washing machines waste a lot of energy. We can rely on modern way of saving energy, like for example using a frontal charger or cold water. But actually the most eco-friendly way is hand washing. In the last years MR Askins has observed more than 150 washings and he has even been able to connect a power unit to the machine, in order to watch TV while washing clothes. This system has no been created to gain money, since the author has put in his website all the steps to built this bicycle-washing machine by themselves.
